Technically, last night was the 1st day, but let’s
not split hairs. The movie I watched was
Tales From the Darkside: The Movie.
Tales From the Darkside: The Movie is, obviously, based on
the Tales From the Darkside tv series.
Although I have seen the series, and thought some of the episodes were
ok, the movie is much, much better. It
reminds me of Tales From the Crypt or even the Creepshow films. A boy, kidnapped by a witch/crazy
lady/cultist, reads to her from a book of scary stories. The stories are adaptations of short stories
by various authors. The only one I’ve
previously read is The Cat From Hell, a Stephen King short. If not for any other reason, watch this movie
for one in particular scene in The Cat From Hell. You’ll know it when you see it, and comment
below when you see it.
I also watched Wishmaster.
This was fun. I think I may have
seen it before, but I’m not sure. I know
I watched a clip once of a scene near the end, but some of it looked
familiar. Anyway, Alexandra acquires a
giant red gemstone at her auction house.
The stone is a prison for an evil djin.
The djin awakens and spends the movie stalking her. The djin’s power is dependent on wishes, he
can only harm you if you make a wish.
The one who awakens him, has 3 wishes.
Once the 3rd wish is made, his power is limitless, or
something. Or maybe his world opens into
ours..I don’t know. Something like that. There is plenty of gore, but they’re really
creative kills. Some of them. A couple were just cheesy.
At the end of Day 1ish, and I realize that I have no idea
how to write a blog about horror movies.
I don’t want it to be a straight up review, but I don’t know how to
write about movies without it being a review.
And I’m trying not to put spoilers in, but if I do, I want a way to keep
them easy for people to skip. I don’t
know. I guess it just takes
practice. Anywho, for Day 2, I have a
few movies I’m deciding to watch.
-Deadtime
Stories
-Tales From the Crypt Bordello of Blood
-Wishmaster 2
-Dead
Snow
I may go with Wishmaster 2, since this is the FearNet
choice, and we all know how hit and miss FearNet is. Who knows when I’ll get another chance. Netflix has 3 and 4, but not 1 or 2. So..Wishmaster 2, it is.
